    615 hrs. on it
Basically all the Injected Johnstons and Evinrudes that sent that brand to the wall, - didn't crap the bed until 1100 - 1500 hours.

Report back after 1500 hours please.

    Cheers

    Hey SK3

    Yeah the one and only!

Cept I'm from Oz rather than Kiwi Land, but what the heck, we is kissin cuzzins with the kiwis - so close enough.........when a south wind blows we can smell the penguin poo in Antarctica from Oz or Kiwi Land.

Yeah I been know'd to exceed a sites bandwidth in one post, and am banned from FS for life... I was accidentally vaccinated at birth with a gramophone needle and haven't shut up much since.

    Nice to remake your acquaintance.

    Cheers

I too am currently running the 150 Etec Saltwater model on my Sea King 218B bay boat. While I use it primarily on the great lakes and chase walleye it has performed without a hiccup!

I've owned Mercs, and at one point in my fishing career I was even sponsored by Yamaha....have to say this Etec has been a great motor!

new etec 200's three years ago seven year warrante takes as long to get work done as the coverage lasts.. Blew up the port transmission at 370hrs and the starboard foot at 415 hrs. Dealer evaluates the problem, contacts bombadier, bombadier sends parts to dealer, dealer returns to replace lower end. Breaking to repair, 8 and 10 days repectively. First year of operation for first foot second week of second year for the other. Just short of three weeks out of water between the two. Second year included alternator failure, another week down time. This year (3) injector failures both engines a month apart same bs dealer to bombadier warrenty work work approval send parts install parts another 10 days for each engine. Hey they all break but seems these two are a little repair prone!
Even to do the work yourself it takes at least a week to get Bombadier approval and parts to the scene. Hell of a way to run a business? Of course my dearler takes my wrath for my cancelations and time off the water ( I have to vent somewhere) but it certainly screws my business up.

Must use e-tec oil to save warranty; $40+ per gallon 100-1 adds the .40 to gallon of gas and usually more. GO WITH THE 4STROKER

You sure about that? In a DIRECT injection motor? My Optis had no fuel injectors to the bearings and I can't find where my Yam HPDIs either and the manuals for either don't show any gasoline injection anywhere except the cylinder.
Sounds kind of exactly how a carb motor works and exactly how a direct injection motor does not work. My DFI motors had injectors that spray DIRECTLY into the cylinder when the ports are closed.. Just like a direct injection diesel or 4 stroke does.
I don't know the e-tecs but are they doing something THAT different on their DFI vs everyone else?

Right, and a 4 stroke in O2 sensor bypass like under acceleration passes gasoline straight through as well. You can see it in cars when kids do jack rabbit starts.. And that's through the catalytic and muffler in a car.

Hey guys, new to this forum but not new to forums by any means. Some of you will recognize me.

Anyway....I have twin 2005 250 E-Tecs with 1500 hours and no issues to speak of. Not to say there is anything wrong with the 4 strokes, they both have their pros and cons and its splitting hairs for the most part.

    Hi All,
Just a word of warning,my 50 hp Evinrude E-tec has developed a hydraulic fluid leak due to corrosion at the base of the trim piston housing,I purchased this motor in good faith after reading many good report's on the forum's,I now have to pay more than two thousand euro's to replace the trim unit, the design of the anode placement is obviously wrong ,I have had it serviced every year since buying in 2007,I own a diving center and this motor is on my rescue boat it has worked little but been well looked after,I have no faith in Evinrude product's anymore,so think twice before buying new and then having to pay 2000 euro after four and a halve years.
