My son is turning 18 and he wants a shotgun as his birthday present. Since he can now legally own one, I wanted him to buy it under his name. Is there a waiting period? I have not bought a long gun in many years.
Ovi
No. Instant background check. EZPZ.
Well, I just called Bass Pro and there is a waiting peried in Miami Dade County, Broward and Palm Beach unless you have CWP (which I do) so I guess I'll buy it and give to him. Does anyone know if there is a preferred legal means of transferring ownership?
Ovi
Ovi, it is completely legal to give your son a gift of ANY firearm. I also think that's better than having him buy one himself as it will now have meaning coming from you.
Buy from a private individual and eliminate the paper trail to your gun.
Just bring him up to Martin or Saint Lucie and have him buy one if you want him to be the one to actually purchase it. No Biggie Up here no wait just sign a few things and out the dor you go whether its walmart or the local gun shops. No registering for any firearms in Fla or any other state that Im aware of.

BPS just lost my business. i just can't understand any relationship between a shotgun and a CCW.
btw why do a lot of people call a CCW a cwp![]()
there ain't no such thing as a cwp in fl.it's a CCW

It has nothing to do with BPS. It is a county law.
Not sure on shotguns but they do not include weekends and holidays as part of the waiting period.
I'll never buy a gun from there and rarely anything else lately.
