Finally! A chance to fish offshore:
It has been a long time since many of us have had the opportunity to fish off-shore. Hopefully, this weekend will be different. Captain Mark Hubbard just announced a real killer-diller plan for the 39 hour trip. Mangrove snapper fishing Friday night, then, Saturday morning, comes the 'show-stopper!' Moving out to a deep water wreck for huge AJ's, red & scamp grouper. The last time the Florida Fisherman fished deep water, the AJ's tore us apart. I also caught some very nice red grouper & a couple of scamps.
Windfinder predicts winds averaging around 15 kts, nothing for that big old cat.
Just talked to my good friend Captain Buddy Bradham, Mother Ocean. The good Captain said that water temperatures anywhere around 75 degrees can be ideal for mangrove snapper. The temperature on the Grounds is now 75.4. With a two day limit, the catch should be outstanding.
So far, only 12 have booked, a few more are needed to sail. Stern spots 5,8,9 are still available. Gosh! I want to go so bad. I will be fishing my normal spot # 23. Would really be great to have some forum friends join me. Bob
From our last deep water trip:
As of Tuesday morning the count is up to 16 & counting. This is going to be a good one.
As of Wednesday 16 are still booked. Captain Hubbard said he will go with that. It's going to be almost like a charter. Hope to have a great story with plenty of pictures & a video to show. Hopefully no one will be camera shy. Bob
