Been a little delinquent in reporting. Two weeks ago it was time for another way inshore trip. Back to C-54 to try for Bream and Speck. The fishing is good. 12 Speck and 18 Bream did not count the Bass and throw backs. The Bass are fun, but are a little bit of a pain when that is not what you are after. Had at least 5 that would have been keepers. Last week it was back to the river, Grand Harbor /Johns Island area. High winds made for a rough day. Managed to land one 15 inch Trout all day. Never fear, the Jacks and Lady fish were all over. Counted over 30 Jacks, needed a commercial angler to get them out. This week was a lot better the winds were down. Bait is fairly thick. Mullet are all over the flats and back in the canals. Glass minnows are almost as plentiful. First stop of the day was Ladyfish City. They were up feeding on the Glass Minnows. Still worked the drops off of the Mangroves. Mixed in with the Lady fish was a 14 inch trout. Next stop produced more trash. Worked tight to the Mangroves and got a 22 inch Trout and a Rat red. Moved to the next island and pulled a 23 inch Trout out of a Snapper hole. Worked a couple of more islands but once again it was trash. Last island before heading to the canals and it was a nice 20 inch Trout. Back in the canals it was still time for Jacks and Ladyfish. Pulled an 18 inch Trout out of the herd. Flat area off of the Mangroves produced 3 short Snook. Maybe next year we will see a comeback in the Snook.
Still no grass in the area.
