Default ECUAGRINGO ADVENTURES: ECUADOR MARLIN FISHING LAST 2012 REPORT

    ECUADOR MARLIN FISHING REPORT

The fishing in coastal Ecuador remains quite vivid around Salinas with boats still reporting good catches of wahoo and seeing tailing striped marlin until last week. It slowed down a bit the last few days as the current has begun pushing out West. Water temperatures are slowly creeping up all the way South to the border of Peru.

San Cristobal, Galapagos is reporting water of 72/73 F and very good tuna fishing by local artisanal fishermen. Tailing marlin have been reported continuously in the area between Santa Cruz and and Cristobal Islands by passenger boats. Most sportsboats are finishing their yearly maintenance and we will keep you posted on boats going out to fish.

Manta Ecuador reported bringing in a blue of 1200 lbs plus by an artisanal boat. Local fishermen use bait and switch techniques to target all types of marlin unfortunately for kill. the fishing has been up and down with marlin in Manta this year and has remained for the most part under average compared to 2011 and 2010.

As we begin to fish more and more the coming weeks, we will provide continuos reports of the activity.
